Ward was born at MonroeLouisianaon 14 April1976. Monroe Christian School was her private Christian primary school. For her secondary educationWard was a student at Ouachita Parish High Schoolbut then relocated into River Oaks High School on the summer after her junior year; thereshe was a member of the dance and drill teams. She did a brief stint at Northeast Louisiana University after graduating. In the year she turned thirteen, old, Ward started modeling after leaving the school and relocating from Louisiana to New York in order to accomplish this. After a few years, she decided to attempt acting. In the 70s, Ward was a part-time actress with no credit on the daytime soap All My Children. Then she was cast in a role that lasted only a few minutes on NBC's primetime teen-drama Malibu Shores. The morning soap Sunset Beach cast Ward as the virgin Meg Cummings in late 1996. In 1999she began to pursue her own film career, playing the psychological Brittany Foster in the erotic film The In Crowd.
